Concern of power shortages during summer is feared in Japan, because of the delay in resuming nuclear power plants operation. GEPR welcomes various opinions.

This Week’s Column

Dr. Nobuo Ikeda, president of Agora Institute that run GEPR, contributed a column ”Government should stop illegal interruption of restart of nuclear plants”. The power companies could resume operation of nuclear plants, if Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry approves. Japanese administration, however, does not give approval, because politicians considers public consensus. He calls for stop to this evasions of their responsibilities.(English translation coming soon)

2) Mr. Yoshito Hori, President, GLOBIS University and Managing Partner, GLOBIS Capital Partners, contributes a column ”Political Leaders Should Decide Restarts of Nuclear Power Plants”. He points out burdens of Japanese economy in stopping nuclear power plants. And business persons fall silent because they consider consumers. He says that political leaders should recognize this situation, not escaping from their responsibility but to decide restart.

A Web-TV Program "Is radiation really so harmful? Considering risks of nuclear power generation" (Japanese only)

Agora Institute, who operates GEPR, broadcasted a Web-TV program "Is radiation really so harmful? Considering risks of nuclear power generation" on internet video streaming channel "Niconico Live " on January 19th (in Japanese only) . Nobuo Ikeda, President of Agora Incorporated, and three experts on radiation, risk analysis, and energy policy discussed about the situations after Fukushima nuclear accident. Their opinions were consistent that potentiality of health damage caused by the Fukushima accident is very small. GEPR will provide a summary about this program soon.
